Port Maubert

My virtual field trip brought me to Port Maubert in France. I used the 360 tour of cities to find this exploration. I chose this area because come January I will be in Hossegor France, and this was the closest option to their. Port Maubert is a small riverside marina or harbor, and it is located on he largest estuary in western Europe, The Gironde Estuary, in the Charente-Maritime region. It is known in todays time for its beautiful scenery, walking and cycling paths, and other riverside activity. Though it is relatively small and quiet today, it was historically one of the busiest and most important ports in all of Europe. In addition to its trade value such as wine and salts, it's military application was just as valuable. There is no fortress or obviously military presence, but there was constant boat traffic and defense all along the estuary.
